Job Position Description:

Are you a compassionate and resourceful individual dedicated to helping families thrive? We're seeking a Family Support Specialist to support a child abuse prevention program focused on strengthening caregiver–child bonds, promoting healthy child development, and enhancing overall family stability through home visiting and virtual case management. This role works closely with diverse families to provide assessment, education, advocacy, and connections to community resources, while collaborating with partners to deliver culturally responsive, high-impact support.


Abbreviated Duties List:

  • Work with families, supervisor, and Healthy Families team to promote positive caregiver-child relationships, support healthy growth and development, enhance problem-solving skills, and improve support systems.
  • Maintain a caseload of 18-24 points. During the first year of employment caseload will build at a gradual pace, reaching a minimum of 18 points at one year.
  • Complete on-going evaluation documentation and assessments for each family in accordance with Healthy Families standards and requirements.
  • Connect families with community resources and support self-advocacy across systems.
  • Enter data into databases.

Family Support Specialist II

  • Assist in training FSS within the collaboration about community resources, curriculum, home visiting, and paperwork.

Family Support Specialist III

  • Completion of QA duties, such as assisting with family file review and QA calls, as assigned by Program leadership.
  • Conducts staff weekly supervision as needed and, at minimum once a quarter, to develop skills and continue in practice (attend Supervisor Core Training first).

Abbreviated Requirements:

  • Minimum of an Associate Degree, Step 7 on the Oregon Registry, CDA, or equivalent with a minimum of one year of case management experience, including maintaining accurate and complete case files and coordination of services with other agencies. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Ability to work independently and produce quality work under tight timelines.
  • Ability to set and maintain positive and professional boundaries with clients.
  • Ability to establish trusting relationships with clients and staff, demonstrating acceptance of individual differences.
  • Requires a valid Oregon driver's license, proof of auto insurance for private vehicle, and access to reliable transportation.

What Will Make You Stand Out:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Services or a directly related field.
  • Bilingual in English and at least one other language which reflects the current population(s) within Washington County.
  • Knowledge of Washington County social services and resources.
