Position Summary:

In support of the agency's mission, the Corporate & Community Partnerships Manager is responsible for meeting defined goals for funds raised primarily from corporations and community based organizations.  The manager will identify, cultivate, solicit and steward corporations, small and mid-size business, and community based organizations, engaging board members, staff, and volunteers in the process as appropriate. They are responsible for increasing the visibility of Community Action among these constituencies, leading to greater giving.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Establishes long-term partnerships and strengthens existing relationships with the corporate and community partners, that will result in funding for the immediate and long-term goals of Community Action.
  • Provides the expertise to advance Community Action's interests by researching and identifying sources of support, proactively seeking opportunities to generate new proposals based on corporate guidelines and interests, and by maintaining strong communication ties with corporate donors and prospects.
  • Builds strong working relationships with Community Action staff to be able to clearly articulate agency needs to donors and proactively identify potential sponsorship, partnership, and engagement opportunities.
  • Develops and successfully implements a solicitation and cultivation plan for assigned constituents.
  • Develops event sponsorship materials and solicitation plan, and successfully implements the plan, engaging board and volunteer solicitors as appropriate.
  • Strictly adheres to the agency's code of ethics and all safety policies and procedures at all times and respond/correct any at-risk safety issues immediately.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs including regular and reliable attendance and adherence to all company workplace behavior standards.

Marginal Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Actively participates in department-wide initiatives, such as agency communication strategies, by providing input and feedback.
  • Represents the agency to the public; attends and participates in relevant community meetings and events.
  • Other marginal functions and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Education/Training/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree and previous direct fundraising experience with a proven track record of successful personal solicitation of gifts of $1,000 or more and demonstrated success in acquiring funding from corporations and individuals. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively maintain and nurture relationships with donors, supporters, the media, community partners and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly and present ideas, concepts and principles in an understandable and persuasive manner.
  • Ability to develop and manage budgets, contracts and required reporting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including internal and external customer service.
  • Strong management skills including the ability to set and meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • Experience using a donor management database to track contacts, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the goals and mission of Community Action.
  • Must exhibit commitment to and knowledge of ethical use of information.
  • Ability to accommodate flexible work schedule and travel.

Required Physical Demands of Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Work is conducted in normal office environment with off-site meetings and appointments in a variety of office and event type settings.
  • Work includes evenings, early morning and weekend assignments.
  • Constant video terminal exposure and keyboarding.
  • In normal work day, may stand/walk 2 hrs. per day; may sit 4-8  hrs/day;  may drive 2-10/week.
  • In normal work day may bend, squat and climb occasionally.
  • Work is light in nature, maximum lifting up to 10
